The Islamic Economics and Finance department opened at Sakarya University Faculty of Political Sciences is the first undergraduate department opened in this field among state universities.
The Islamic Economics and Finance department established within Sakarya University aims to meet the qualified human resource needs of both the participation finance sector and the academy. It is also the first department opened in this field at a state university in Turkey. It is aimed for graduates of the Department of Islamic Economics and Finance to meet the workforce demand in participation banks, participation insurance companies and companies that provide savings-based interest-free financial services.
Students who will graduate from the Department of Islamic Economics and Finance will be able to participate in participation banking, participation insurance, savings-based interest-free financial institutions, secretariat of advisory boards, interest-free portfolio companies, publishing houses with interest-free finance principles, associations and professional unions, and the developments to be realized with the Economic Reform Action Plan. Employment opportunities for graduates of the Department of Islamic Economics and Finance will also increase.
National and international workshops, congresses, conferences and other academic activities organized by the Islamic Economics and Finance Application and Research Center (ISEFAM) within Sakarya University since 2012 show that the university has a significant amount of knowledge and experience in this field.
The Department of Islamic Economics and Finance will be supported by the activities carried out by ISEFAM and incoming students will be offered rich opportunities for their academic development.
